What percent decrease in the cost of health insurance would be seen if the yet undefined 'tort reform' were to occur? 1%? 2% at best? Is this a deal breaker when health insurance rates have surely not been a stranger to double-digit percentage increases? And, who thinks that savings would be passed on to the subscribers? I hope we can all agree that something has to be done about the skyrocketing cost of health insurance. I read that the senate (?) has released a new plan. I can't say that I've read the details. But, I was wondering, does the republican leadership have a plan?

I would guess that 'affordable' would mean something like there was twenty years ago. Remember when your employer could afford to cover you with a really good plan without your having to kick in anything at all? And it was about half the price of an appointment in the dr's office to go to the emergency room? Wasn't all that long ago.

"Tort reform" is not working in Texas, it's now lowering the cost of malpractice insurance for Texas doctors.

Al - from what I understand, the lack of tort reform is due in a large part to the lobbying done by attorney organizations. It sure seems to me that if we could get half of the bright young people who are looking into being a lawyer to change their mind and go to medical school, we could kill two birds with one stone!
