I'm thinking that if Obama doesn't accomplish what he said he'd try to, last year, we might see an Independent candidate with a real chance, next election. It's getting obvious that a LOT of people are becoming dissillusioned with the Democrats and the Republicans. No matter who's in power, us peaons continue to bear the load.

yeah, bac, just like my pipedream that they could tax the h e l l out of political contributions and use that money to help directly, instead of washing it thru several hands in DC.

Be nice to bar any and all contributions to any party or candidate. Set it up so all the money goes into a general election fund, and divvy it up equally amongst the candidates. Bet the 'contributions' would dry up in a hurry! Think what could happen if the millions going to elections were used to cut costs for insurance, health care, prices on consumer goods, etc... Of course, that's just a pipe dream.

bac...we are where we are because of our 'belief' that the powers that be, in DC will do the right thing. However, to do the right thing for one demographic may mean screwing another. Which one has the shrillest voice in DC? Lobbyist money and campaign influence, or the common people? In looking at campaign funding and contributions, it's notable that certain industries do favor one party over the other, HOWEVER, they do slide their pile of money towards the political party favored to win at election time. Why waste millions on a loser? Why not use millions to gain a favor? Many drug companies and healthcare related fields, usually known to be Right swinging, are on the shoulders of some key democrats, and their staffers. There are unoffcial "lobbyist' type people that have been appointed to key positions that have ties to the very fields in which congress is trying to craft legislation for. Follow the money...it's really a simple concept, but due to the opaqueness of the entire political scene, the only info they want us to know, sees the sunlight. I don't trust either side to tell the whole truth...only what they think we need to know. I don't like being a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed alot of BS.

No, Kay, they're all here, stuck on pikes by the ilk of the right wing.

How about "Some would say..." and "There are those..." Are there any scarecrows left in Kansas or are they skewered on pikes in DC?

I can see it now. At each point, Obama can say " GWB did it before" , "racist" ,or "excessive profits" . That should about cover it.

Could be, Steve. But I bet the 'Top Ten' will be interesting! Then again, I thought that Letterman was kind of anti-Obama? Have to stay up late for that one, anyhow.

Obama and Letterman will be a lovefest - they will probably have to blur things out in order to show it on national tv!
