Rush L I am going to do something that is against my better judgement, that is to respond to your note "I get it Al, you condemn the comments and actions of Dylan and myself but you approve of the comments and actions of Jerry and Mike J. Priceless! #1 I didn't mention Dylan are you, GO, and Gretchen the same person? #2 If you have a complaint against Jerry and Mike then feel free to stop communicating with them. #3 this concludes my responding to your postings, I choose to stop communicating with you until and unless you change your comments to be more civil.

Lee - it would certainly slow down the pace of the comments - I'm not so sure that would be good. I personally enjoy the give and take in real time - of course assuming it doesn't spiral into the toilet.

The following is a direct quote from our little thrice weekly paper and appears every time anyone posts a comment to any article or letter to the editor... Quote: Comments must be approved by an editor before appearing on the Web site. Editors review submitted comments periodically during the day for offensive or off-topic content before posting. Your thoughtful contribution to the online discussion is appreciated. End quote. Now, if our small town paper can get it right I fail to see why the EP has such trouble reviewing posts prior to printing.

LL L, I completely agree with you! The idea that the Echopress would (again) spend the time and space to write, yet another editorial, about inappropriate comments being posted is laughable. It is THEIR website and, if they want it to stop, THEY need to do something about it! The wishy-washy nature of banning someone (Jerry H) then allowing him to post, and not banning others, and closing down entire threads, without any warning to the posters who caused it to shut down, actually CREATES an environment of distrust. They post rules but fail to act. Like you said, they shoud DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT or STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. The EP, in my opinion, has acted like a bad parent, setting rules, making threats, and not following through fairly or at all. And some children don't know how to behave/follow rules and will refuse to do so without a real threat of punishment.

In my opinion, if the Echo thinks the online bickering is an issue and they have to post an Editorial about it telling people to clean it up, then they should hire someone to be the "Forum Police" and have the comments be scanned before they're posted. There's plenty of people wanting a job right now, and if they poster can't follow the rules, ban them. Yes, they can sign up under a different name/email address etc., but pretty soon I would think they'd get sick of creating another email account just for Echo Press comment posting. But, I know I could be wrong on that, just a thought/suggestion.

While I am at it, I have one other observation I would like to share with you all and that is the people that sit here and complain that they can't post. What are you talking about? This fighting takes place on one or maybe two stories and the rest are free of any problems. What is stopping you from posting your thoughts over on those stories. Are you telling us that the only stories you are interested in are the exact ones where all of the fighting is occuring? Wonder why that might be.

Rush L., you mistake me for somebody that gives a twit what they do. It is up to them. Either clean this up or quit complaining that it is out of hand.

Good editorial. I was on another site a few days ago that lets you rate comments with little icons that have different meanings. They used a peanut to mean comment is nuts, unlight light bulb to mean clueless, lite light bulb to mean brilliant, X to mean disagree, a heart to mean touching, green check to mean agree. It was fun and I didn't need to comment back because my icon that I chose, which is anonymous, said how I felt. It tallied up how many chose each icon for each post. Here's a link if you want to see it. http://www.stamfordadvocate.com/
