Exactly. If anything eliminate some bookspace and add computers. Any book you could ever want to read you can find online anyway, so more computers would be a worthy addition but not a new library.

How many of those 500 people are just dropping off a book or movie too? I have never felt like the library was full when I have been in there. Usually just a few people except where the computers are...that always has people in it.

Andy, not only does the library have few patrons per day, but have you noticed the bookshelves? There is so much empty space on the shelves, that a bit of rearranging could probably solve a lot of the space issues.

Yes there may be 500 people but that is per day, if the library is open about 10 hours a day and people stay for about 20 min. , then if you do the math, which i did, on average there are only about 17 people in there at one time. 16!! do you really think that we need more space if there are about 16 people in there at one time! Plus, the artical said, "About 500 people a day walk through the doors of the 20,000 square-foot building" Now tell me if I am wrong but that means the whole building, including all activities at the gym,and etc.

The article said about 500 people per day use the library, far from NO ONE. I think that the main point to the article is that maybe we should look at future expansion. Nothing wrong with planning for the future. Not everybody is fortunate enough to have a computer or internet access in their homes.

This is definently not needed! Especially with the way the economy is right now. The library is usually almost vacant when I go in there. What is the point ot buying more books and building a new building if people arent going to use it??

Can we at least plan for it so in 5 years, people don't say, "Where did this need come from?"

The county cannot afford a new anything right now. The city, the county, the state and the nation need to rein it in for the next five years or so. Regroup. Unless a water main breaks or a 40-foot deep sink hole opens up on Broadway, we should do NOTHING except maintain the status quo. I'm sorry if you think I'm the devil. I use the library, it works; and we may eventually need a larger space...but not right now, people. Use your heads.
