I myself won't buy from any artist - that would be just another reminder of how stupid people are!!!

M M my I agree many voters had no idea what the bill was about. I also think most voters mark the circle on a number of candidates without having a rudimentary idea of who they are or what they've done in the past, or what they will do in the future.

Didn't hear much about this before voting. Just saw a couple signs here and there. Had no idea what it was about. On the ballot it was worded in a way to convince you to vote yes in my opinion. It said something like "if you want clean water, vote for this". Well, who wouldn't want clean water. Doesn't the state already get money from the lottery for this? When will it be enough?

Why don't we just support doctors, dentists, ditch diggers, prostitutes, etc. with tax dollars too! These are professions people choose to do! We choose to buy toys as well as art pieces. We shouldn't have to support the arts with taxes too! That is your profession......why should we have to pay??????

Too many uninformed voters, why raise taxes in this economy to pay for art, use a camera, it's cheaper anyhow. what about all the money that that was paid out of taxes already, where did that go???

Al,I appreciate people taking a stand for art. Now I am inviting you for coffee any Saturday. You don't have to buy anything. I find coffee essential to living and I want to offer a cup to you with real cream and sugar. We artists do like to learn from others.

The difference being what is and what is not essential to living...food, meds, housing, or arts. By the public choosing to vote for the referendum they are willing to support art through taxes not necessarily through a change in personal spending priorities.

I understand the referendum. The fact is, supporting the arts is great, but to be a working fine artist, the support can't stop with the government. People need to place the same value on God given talent, imagination, and creative skill as they do on commercially manufactured toys, sporting goods, and clothing. Until then, natural artists will remain working jobs that pay the bills and create in their spare time. It is very difficult to make a living in art. The first paintings I sold from my gallery went to a lady in London, England. Pretty sad that my first sale didn't go to a local.
