Stacie Kimball has been a staff writer at the Echo Press since August 2011. She graduated from the administrative assistant program at Alexandria Technical College. She worked at the college before staying at home to raise her children and run her own business for nine years. She lives in Douglas County with her husband, Jim, and children, Cole and Eva. In her spare time, she enjoys family time, photography, animals, fishing and snowmobiling.

If dedication was something that could be gauged by the clothing a person wears, then Doug Swenson’s Vikings sweatshirt and Twins hat may have been a good indication of his dedicated nature. But, his commitment could also be illustrated by the 22 years he has put into his employment at Mike’s Car Wash in Alexandria.

Tia Grim had a great idea, but her husband, Luke, had other plans when it came to experiencing the birth of their third child while he was stationed in Kuwait as an Army first sergeant. As they prepared for the birth of a new baby, the couple made a decision to use Skype as a way for Luke to be part of the birth.

Patriotism brought warmth to the air

The temperature was a chilly 41 degrees and small amounts of rain fell, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of those at Citizen’s Field in Alexandria on Wednesday, October 26. Ciara Drexler from Barrett wrote a song and had a vision she was determined to see through. The final goal is a music video Drexler hopes will send a message to service men and woman everywhere.
