The West Central Area girls’ basketball team held off a feisty Ashby squad to win 55-45 in the season opener for the Knights last Friday night.
Holly Van Kempen was the catalyst for WCA with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Kylee Fernholz added 12 points and Tiana Christenson and Kelsey Hammer had 10 points each.
“The main thing is that we got our first game under our belt and came away with a win at home,” WCA head coach Beth Hanson said. “There were lots of positive things, and we saw some things we can continue to work on.”
