• The 3M Foundation donated $1,250 to Zion Lutheran School in recognition of Davis Froemming, John Johnson, Robert Kuhnau, Greg Scott and Joann Vogt, all of whom donated their time to Zion in various capacities, from building maintenance to helping serve lunch.

As part of the 3M Volunteer Match, the 3M Foundation donates $250 to eligible nonprofit organizations for which a 3M employee volunteers 20 hours or a 3M retiree volunteers 25 hours or more per calendar year.

• The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., which operates Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s, Parisian and Younkers stores, announced that its Community Days fundraising effort is estimated to have raised more than $5 million, with $156,000 designated to the Red Cross/Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

Thousands of non-profit groups signed up to sell $5 savings booklets, which contained more than $400 in savings on in-store and online merchandise to be used during the Bon-Ton Community Days event on November 9 and 10. One hundred percent of the $5 booklet donation is retained by the organizations.

In light of the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, customers were also given the option to designate their donation to local participating groups or to the American Red Cross.

• Zion Lutheran School received $1,000 from Douglas Machine through its employee gift match program. Douglas Machine grants gifts to nonprofits and schools of its employees’ choosing through the gift matching program.

• Michael Steidl, Sam Steidl and Joshua Tatge, financial advisors with Ameriprise Financial, Inc., recently attended an offsite investment symposium conference. During the two-day conference, they heard from numerous industry experts and wholesaling firms. Topics included investment themes for 2012, taxes and politics, global real estate outlook and charitable giving.

• Juettner Motors in Alexandria had a successful “Go Further With Ford Night” event. With support from the community, the dealership donated $980 to the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf.

• BlackRidge Bank recently hired Karrie Bahr to fill its loan officer position. Bahr is originally from the Morris area and has been in the Alexandria area for the past 11 years. She brings more than 17 years of banking experience including teller, loan processing, underwriting and lending. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé Alan and their three dogs. She also enjoys gardening, hunting, fishing and racing. Bahr resides in rural Osakis.

• Lakeland Mental Health Center, LMHC, Glenwood, is pleased to announce the addition of Laura Goraczkowski, MSW, LGSW, to its outpatient team. Goraczkowski completed her master’s internship at LMHC in Alexandria and earned her master’s in social work from the University of Minnesota. She is working toward obtaining licensure as a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW).

At Lakeland, Goraczkowski provides therapy to clients of all ages in the outpatient clinic setting as well as professional children’s therapeutic support services in the Minnewaska School system.

• The Alexandria Menards home improvement store is serving as a toy drive drop site in the spirit of Christmas. There will be a drop box near the exit door to collect new and unwrapped presents from now through mid-December.

• Rhonda Bot, multi-county court administrator for Douglas, Morrison and Wadena counties, Seventh Judicial District, received the 2012 MACM Distinguished Service Award. Several years ago, Wadena County was added to Bot’s responsibilities. She accepted the challenge and proceeded to develop a high-functioning team of court professionals dedicated to improving the administration of justice.

• Edina Realty is launching a “Veterans to Realtors” program to help veterans launch a career in real estate. This new program will offer special incentives, $1,500 in training, technology tools and marketing support, to help veterans get their real estate career off the ground. The Edina Realty Veterans to Realtors program is aimed at veterans who are trying to re-enter the workforce.

• Dr. Steven P. Radjenovich, D.O. board-certified family practice of the Midway Medical Clinic in Alexandria, presented a case of an unusual cause of sudden death in an infant at the 29th annual Forensic Science Seminar held October 25-26 in Brooklyn Center. This seminar is for county coroners, medical examiners and law enforcement personnel.

Dr. Radjenovich is a board member of the State Board of Directors of the Minnesota Coroners and Medical Examiners Association and is a past president of that organization. He has approximately 300 hours in training in death investigation.

• Wanda Krueger was recently hired at Signature Salon. She was most recently employed at Great Clips and has 20 years’ experience. She specializes in men’s and women’s haircuts, colors and perms. Her hours are Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Vikings Savings Bank has announced that it has hired Mike Mohr as a loan officer. His primary lending focus will be in real estate and consumer lending at the bank. His experience includes more than eight years as a lender in the area.

His education includes a number of industry qualifications including being a certified consumer lender by the Independent Community Bankers of America and graduating from North Dakota State University with honors, earning his MBA. He lives in Alexandria with his wife, Chris, and two children, Wyatt and Rachael.
