Alexandria dance team: Cards eighth at Brainerd

Alexandria’s dance team traveled to Brainerd for the first competition of the season, finishing eighth in a field that included all of the Central Lakes Conference teams.
“The varsity team had a decent first performance,” said head coach Christine Reilly. “Teams placing sixth through ninth were all close – within 25 points of each other out of a possible 500.
“The Cardinals’ strength is their kick technique and their scores were decent in the kick category, which makes up 30 percent of a team’s score.
“The team was seven members strong and they are to be given a lot of credit for staying positive and putting their best foot forward,” said their coach. “We are short several members due to illness and injury, and will be a larger and stronger kick team upon the return of these team members.”
Brainerd earned top honors with a team score of 372.
Alexandria will now be at Detroit Lakes tomorrow, Saturday, and won’t compete again until Saturday, December 8, when they will be at the Albany Invitational.
