Hank was born in Litchfield, the last of 10 children born to Leroy and Marguerite (Quinn) Christenson. He attended school in Litchfield until 10th grade, when he left to attend Nazareth Hall and the St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul.
Hank was ordained a Catholic priest in 1965 and soon after received his master’s degree in teaching from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul. From 1965 to 1985, Hank served as pastor in parishes in the Diocese of New Ulm, Marshall, Willmar, North Mankato, Dawson, Montevideo and Redwood Falls. At that time, Hank left the active ministry.
In 1986, he married Reenie Elkington. They lived in Minneapolis until 2006. During that time, Hank worked at Mount Olivet Rolling Acres and taught classes at Create, Inc. In 2006, Hank and Reenie moved to their current home in Alexandria.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Marge; brothers, Wally, Ger, Chuck, John and Paul; sisters, Kate Merz and Dorothy Flynn.
He is survived by his wife, Reenie; sisters, Peg Wald and Bette Mathias; uncle, Hank Quinn; mother-in-law, Aileen Elkington; in-laws, Norma, Pearl, Harriet and Yolanda Christenson, Pat Larson, Penny Elkington, Bob and Colleen Elkington; many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his cat, Peaches Lynn.
Hank was so proud of the kidney transplant he received on January 22, 2012. He lived 10 more wonderful months until he suffered a stroke on November 15, 2012. God bless his soul.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1 at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Alexandria.
Visitation is Friday, November 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
