Jefferson High School’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science) robotics team, Team 3313 Mechatronics, participated in the 2012 Minne Regional at Prior Lake High School in Savage on Saturday, November 17.

The team hosted a workshop on public relations and websites in the morning before the competition began. Kacy McCormick and Miranda Muzik created the PowerPoint and led the workshop.

Thirty teams from around Minnesota and North Dakota competed in the Minne Regional. The robot drive team consisted of Bryce Klang, Alicia Krohnfeldt, Allen Odden, Dalton Myhr and Tyler Floding. Team 3313 Mechatronics used the basketball playing robot from the previous build season to participate.

Team 3313 placed fourth. They made it to the semi-finals but did not make it to finals.

FIRST Team 3313 Mechatronics requires teams of high school students to work with adult mentors and businesses from their community to build a robot that plays a game that FIRST changes and then announces each year on January 5. The team will soon begin building a new robot.

Team 3313 will host a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch in Alexandria on Monday, December 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Ten percent of sales that night will be donated to the robotics team. Everyone is welcome to attend.
