What kind of popcorn brand leaves the least amount of unpopped kernels?
Which type of water makes grass grow the tallest – well, lake or city water?
What type of arrow shoots the fastest?
What conditions make churning butter faster?
What kind of cereal absorbs the most amount of milk?
Those questions and dozens more were explored, analyzed and tested by 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in Garfield, Miltona, Carlos and Alexandria recently.
Their conclusions were showcased and evaluated at a science fair held Thursday at Voyager Elementary School.
The event featured the work of about 180 students who diligently worked on about 80 different projects.
It was the district’s third science fair this fall. Previous ones took place at Lincoln Elementary, which showcased 60 projects from 80 students, and Woodland Elementary, which featured 80 projects from 110 kids, according to organizers.
In case you’re curious, the answers to the questions at the top of this story are, according to the students’ research: Pop Secret; lake water; wood (because it was the lightest); warm cream (with or without yogurt); and Fruity Pebbles (Frosted Flakes absorbed the least).
