Letter - Toys being collected for Jingle Bells Telethon
The 64th annual Jingle Bells Telethon, hosted by the Alexandria Jaycees, is fast approaching.
To the editor:
The 64th annual Jingle Bells Telethon, hosted by the Alexandria Jaycees, is fast approaching. Each year during the holidays, food and toys are delivered to families in the Alexandria area that are struggling to make ends meet. One way the Jaycees provide toys is through donations from the community. For instance, many businesses in Alexandria collect toy donations.
This year, due to programming changes with Jingle Bells, the Jaycees are uncertain of the financial outcome. Therefore, the Jaycees are encouraging the community’s generosity more than ever for toy donations. Although food still makes up the majority of our deliveries, toys have continued to increase over the years. Monetary donations prior to and during the telethon are still necessary to make the program a success.
That money is used to cover telethon costs, including food and toys purchased by the Jaycees to fill basket requests. The Jaycees use some of that money to purchase toys that have not been donated prior to the telethon.
For locations of businesses with toy boxes, please visit www.jinglebellsalexandria.org.
The Jingle Bells live telethon will be held Saturday, December 8 at Lake Geneva Christian Center from 5 to 10 p.m. The telethon will also be broadcast on Selective TV Channel 21.4.

Thank you for all the support over the past 63 years. Let’s keep the tradition going!
