Les was born August 24, 1924 in Alexandria to John and Clara (Baumann) Loch. Les attended school in Alexandria. He served in the 1st Convalescent Hospital of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in New Guinea and the Philippines.
He married Dorothy M. Kamoni on August 11, 1948 in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Les was a policeman in Alexandria from 1951 to 1965, serving as chief of police for the last seven years. Les worked for the State of Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension beginning in 1965, retiring in 1985.
Les and Dorothy enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada in their retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, wood-working, and birding. Les especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the MPPOA, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Les is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Steven, of Babbitt, Sherry, of Peoria, AZ, Evone, of Willmar, David (Sandy), of Bemidji; grandchildren, Aric (Melissa) Dols, Peter Dols, Heidi Loch (Rami Zahr), Daniel Loch, Nikki Loch; great-grandchildren, Anna and Micah Dols; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon; and sisters, Margaret and Francis.
Memorials are preferred to Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Cancer Society, or the Heart Association.
A memorial service will be held held for Les on Tuesday, November 13 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. The Rev. Dee Pederson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
