Cardinal girls' swimming and diving team sets 24 season bests at Section 6A prelims

Two individuals, three relays advance for Minnewaska-Morris as well.

Cardinal swimmers set 24 season bests as they advanced to the finals of the Section 6A meet that begins today, Saturday, at 3 p.m. in Sartell.

In the 200 free prelims, Megan Bristow was fifth and Rachel Peterson was ninth as both moved, while in the 200 IM, Madalyn Winger was fifth, Kate LeBrasseur seventh and Hannah Eklund eighth to all earn spots in the finals.

In the 50 free, Beth Burnham finished 12th to advance, and in the 100 butterfly, Jaylen Olson-Rodel earned a spot. Kalli Bowser was fifth, Peterson ninth and Burnham 12th in the 100 free, picking up spots in the finals.

In the 500 free, Madalyn Winger advanced with a sixth place, while in the 100 back, Bowser moved on with a third place finish. In the 100 breaststroke, Eklund, third; Bristow, fifth; and Hannah Lindgren, 12th; advanced.

All three relays advanced as well.

The Minnewaska-Morris Gators moved three relays into the finals as well as Bridgitte Weaver, who was 12th in the 200 IM.

Bridget Opdahl advanced as she finished third in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.
