Barging ahead with a landscaping project

It isn’t your typical landscaping project.

Because the customer’s property is on an island on Lake Brophy west of Alexandria, Grand Designs Landscaping is using a barge to transport supplies to the job.

Ferguson Brothers is providing the equipment to load the landscaping materials and Custom Boardwalk is supplying the barge.

Crews were loading up the 12-by-40-foot barge with materials all last week, making several trips from the Lake Brophy public access out to the property.

A temporary ramp was built on the property owner’s hillside to make the work go easier.

Grand Designs worked with Douglas County in obtaining all the permits for the project.

When it is finished, a new patio and retaining walls will improve the property – brought there by the barge load.
