Maras, Roste first in Punt, Pass and Kick competition

Alexandria’s Lauren Maras and Jaran Roste came home with first place finishes at the section competition of the NFL-sponsored Punt, Pass and Kick program.

Maras won the 6-7 age division in the girls’ competition, while Roste took home top honors in the 14-15 age division for the boys. Both advanced to sections by finishing first at a local competition held at Discovery Middle School on October 5. Jacy Roste of Alexandria also finished first at the local competition and took second at sections in the 12-13 girls’ division.

The scores of both Jaran Roste and Maras will now be compared to other sectional champions in the three-state region of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to see if they qualify for a chance to advance to the state team competition. That will be held at Mall of America Field in Minneapolis on Sunday, December 9. The top four scores in each age division advance to the state competition.
