Mabel Lorraine Randt, 83, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at her home.

Mabel was born September 4, 1929 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Kolb) Barnes.

Mabel was united in marriage to John Randt on October 18, 1947 in Redwood Falls. To this union, five children were born. The couple farmed all their life until retiring to East Battle Lake, where they fished, socialized with neighbors and entertained family.

Even in retirement, Mabel never slowed down. She enjoyed gardening and canning, and seeing her children, grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel and John then moved to Alexandria and continued to fish, garden and entertain family and friends. She was always the hostess and ready with the coffee pot. Mabel loved to fish, whether in the boat, in the fish-house, or from the end of a dock, it was "her time."

She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, John; children, Terry Randt (Deb), Linda Schulze (Bob), Debra Harleman (Jack), Susan Hilleren (Dell), Sally Willenbring (Tim); 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Chuck Barnes (Ruby), Al Barnes (Helen); sister, Pearl Morgan; numerous sisters in the Randt family and several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, “sister” Alice Randt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna; grandson, John Joseph Randt; brothers, Francis “Bud” and Fred; and sister, Ann “Blondie” Skinness.

A memorial service was held Thursday, November 1 at Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was at Lake Geneva Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
