Don Simmons is a recipient of Knute Nelson’s (KN) Tree of Excellence award. This award is the highest level of recognition through the KN Employee Recognition Program.

--Noonan Sport Specialists (NSS) is proud to announce the addition of a new trainer at their Alexandria strength and conditioning facility. Certified personal trainer Ashley Carlsen will join co-owners Mike Hawes and Dustin Schlichting and their staff starting in November.

Carlsen, originally from Alexandria, graduated at the top of her class from Alexandria Technical and Community College with an Associate in Applied Science degree in health and fitness in 2008. She will assume the position of personal trainer for Noonan Sport Specialists at their main facility in downtown Alexandria.

Along with being a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Carlsen is also a NASM certified corrective exercise specialist and a certified lifestyle educator through Metagenics.

--Ecumen recently announced that Carol Kvidt, executive director of Ecumen Bethany Community, has been promoted to regional director of operations for Ecumen and has already begun transitioning into her new role.

Kvidt will oversee Ecumen’s northern and western Minnesota operations, which include care centers, assisted living and memory care, short-stay, home care and outpatient rehabilitation operation.

Ecumen operates senior housing and services across Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Idaho and provides senior housing development services nationally.

Simmons has been employed at Nelson Gables, a division of KN, for a year and a half as a maintenance technician. Simmons was nominated by peers, who said he “always greets people in the halls with a warm, friendly smile” and “takes pride in a job well done and it shows in his work.”
