Letter - A too-well-kept secret

I watched other theater-goers look around the lobby at AAAA with wide eyes. It was the lobby after all! Now it had been transformed into a secret garden with a babbling fountain, trellises, plants and white painted Adirondack chairs.

To the editor:

I watched other theater-goers look around the lobby at AAAA with wide eyes. It was the lobby after all! Now it had been transformed into a secret garden with a babbling fountain, trellises, plants and white painted Adirondack chairs.

I knew nothing about the story The Secret Garden before I arrived. As the touching story unfolded, you could feel the entire audience become captivated. The realistic garden covered the whole main stage with a full upper level loft where all the indoor scenes took place.

At one point, four characters in four locations (stage loft, stage center, stage left and stage right) all came together in one song. I was wowed! The quality of the music and acting left me repeating lyrics I had never heard before. By the time we left, the sound of “Lily’s Eyes” and “Race You to the Top of the Morning” would be with me for days!

The Secret Garden was a too well-kept secret; there were plenty of open seats. The Secret Garden was not just a play, it was an experience.
