Men’s adult basketball league registration

Lakes Area Recreation is taking registrations for the men’s adult basketball league.

League will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Discovery Middle School and Lakes Area Recreation gyms. Play is scheduled to start November 27.

Deadline for registration is November 9.

Youth basketball at LAR

Lakes Area Recreation is now accepting registrations for the youth basketball program for boys and girls in grades 1-6.

The 4-6 grade season will run from November 3 until January 12. The 1-3 grade season will run from December 1 until February 16.

A parent/coaches meeting will be scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the U of M Extension conference room.

West Fargo boys’

basketball tournament

There will be a boys’ youth basketball tournament for grades 3-9 in West Fargo, North Dakota on November 10-11.

Registration deadline is November 1 and the cost is $135 per team.

Vikingland Curling

The Vikingland Curling Club will be holding a community education open house October 17 from 7-9 p.m., and on October 24, league play will begin.

At the community education event, there will be a brief off ice instruction including curling terminology, etiquette and technique. 

Once on the ice, instructors will go over the basics of curling including throwing a stone and sweeping. At the end of the session a short game will be played. Participants are urged to wear layered, loose clothing and clean athletic rubber soled shoes such as sneakers. All other equipment is provided. Be sure to arrive at 6:45 pm.

United Cerebral Palsy run

The first United Cerebral Palsy “Run for a Reason” 5K and 1K will be Saturday, October 13 at Westwood Church in St. Cloud.

Asics long-sleeved T-shirts will be given to the first 200 registrants.
