Agriculture literacy training offered at Farm Bureau conference

A new training session at the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Annual Conference this year will be an agricultural literacy training. The Annual Conference is November 29-December 1 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington. The session will take place from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30.

This training is designed for farmers and ranchers who want to become more comfortable planning and delivering school visits and farm field trips. The training will be put on by Sue Knott, executive director of Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC).

The mission of Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom is to promote understanding and awareness of the importance of agriculture. Their educational programs provide a wealth of opportunities for embedding agriculture, food and natural resources education into the classroom. MAITC seeks to improve student achievement by applying authentic agricultural examples to teach core curriculum concepts in science, social studies, language arts, math and nutrition. These programs cultivate an understanding and appreciation of the food and fiber system that we all rely on every day.
