Letter - Keep Westrom's common sense working for rural Minnesota

To the editor:
Torrey Westrom grew up on a dairy farm, pitching manure, milking cows, slinging hay bales and served as a FFA president. Now he’s our state representative and he’s displayed great common sense for agriculture. During the last two years, Torrey supported agricultural policies that help farmers do business without being overtaxes and over regulated.
As chairman of the House Civil Law Committee, he pushed legislation that makes it easier for cattle ranchers to lease grazing land from the state. During the past two years, Torrey voted for legislation that exempts farmers who graze their livestock on pasture from being entangled with cumbersome feedlot regulations.
Additionally, Torrey supported increasing the estate tax exemption for small businesses and farms, making it easier for the next generation to keep the family farm alive. He also authored a bill to stop state agencies from hammering small farms with six or seven figure fines for minor, first-time violations and rather make the agency work toward compliance with the farmer or small business.
Keep Torrey Westrom’s common sense working for rural Minnesota by now electing him to the Minnesota Senate!
