During the special resource management deer hunt November 3-6, Lake Carlos State Park will remain open.
Visitors are advised to wear blaze orange if they visit while the hunt is in progress, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said. Visitors should also check for hunt-related information at the park office when they arrive.
According to Ed Quinn, resource management consultant for the DNR parks and trails division, the DNR allows these annual hunts as a way to help control the deer population at state parks.
Details on which areas of each park will be affected by the special deer hunts are included in the “Visitor Alert!” boxes on individual park websites at www.dnr.state.mn.us/parksandtrails/index.html.
Park-specific information is available by calling the DNR Information Center at (651) 296-6157 or toll-free at 1-888-646-6367 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
