The Brainerd football team used a 28-point third quarter to hand Alexandria its fourth straight loss in some wet conditions at Citizens’ Field on Wednesday night.

It was actually slow starts by the Cardinals in both halves that allowed the Warriors to run away with a 42-7 win. Brainerd led 14-0 after first-quarter touchdowns from quarterback Luke Boran and running back Conor Gessell.

Boran, Gessell and Logan Davis all ran for two touchdowns apiece to help the Warriors earn their sixth win of the season.

Alexandria’s only score came on a pretty quarterback keeper by junior John Vogeler. He found a hole and made a couple guys miss before going 65 yards down the right sideline on a touchdown that made it 28-7 in the third.

The Cardinals wrapped up the regular season at 1-7. For more on this game, visit Eric Morken’s blog on the Echo Press website at www.echopress.com.
