Letter - Comments seem to mirror the boiler plate DFL description
Playoffs are on. Games are tense. When our less-than-gifted kids come up to bat, the opposing coach is out of the dugout yelling and waving at his outfielders to come in closer to the infield, because “he’s not hitting it anywhere.”
To the editor:
A short story from little league baseball:
Every team has a few players that are challenged, but are guaranteed to be on the field and take their turns at bat.
Playoffs are on. Games are tense. When our less-than-gifted kids come up to bat, the opposing coach is out of the dugout yelling and waving at his outfielders to come in closer to the infield, because “he’s not hitting it anywhere.”
Was he correct? Yes. Was he insulting, demeaning and the south end of a northbound horse? Yes. And I told him so. Our batter was in tears.
Bob Cunniff says he is running for the kids, but is he?
That was my first and only interaction with Mr. Cunniff. It is my opinion that he will do and say anything to get elected.
Words from a great coach, Vince Lombardi, come to mind. “Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing.”
As an educator, should not Cunniff “educate” himself beyond the party line on a group of citizens before lambasting them? I am speaking to his recent comments regarding the Tea Party, which seem to mirror the boiler plate DFL description.
Mary Franson will be there for the kids.
