Letter - Commissioner Bales supports our parks

Spruce Hill County Park is a gem. It is a tribute to a historical location and to the vision of local supporters. Government is definitely responsible to provide areas where residents can gather/enjoy relaxing time. With all the development, fewer and fewer green spaces are available.

To the editor:

Spruce Hill County Park is a gem. It is a tribute to a historical location and to the vision of local supporters. Government is definitely responsible to provide areas where residents can gather/enjoy relaxing time. With all the development, fewer and fewer green spaces are available.

We must look at what we’re providing, more importantly, not providing for those needs. Future generations must be considered for that green space. Not everyone can live on a lake, nor own acres of land.

Be careful when you cut spending on parks. Yes, the parks have to be maintained. Consider that Commissioner Bales has a plan to begin a program like the highway cleanup program, called “Adopt a Park,” where groups/organizations can have their name on the park that they care for.

Parks need continual maintenance and upkeep. We know that without Bev Bales as an advocate, the Spruce Hill Park would be in trouble. Bev Bales has always supported parks for the good of all ages.

Re-elect Bev Bales as commissioner.
