Football: Verndale shuts out Brandon-Evansville

The Brandon-Evansville football team couldn’t slow down a strong Verndale running game in a 30-0 loss for the Chargers last Friday night.

The Pirates (5-2) put up 257 yards and scored all four of their touchdowns on the ground. Dillon Card led that attack with 177 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.

“Very physical game tonight,” Brandon-Evansville head coach Tim Pattrin said. “A few key mistakes cost us this game. We will work on these mental mistakes as we get ready for Bertha on Wednesday.”

The Chargers turned the ball over three times. Billie Juul completed 7-of-14 passes for 58 yards but threw two interceptions. Brandon-Evansville also fumbled three times but lost just one of those.

The Chargers had 177 yards of total offense. They rushed for 119 yards as Zack Henneman led the way with 61 yards on 14 carries.

Brandon-Evansville (2-5) will try to end the regular season on a positive note as it hosts Berth-Hewitt (1-6) tonight, Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
