Football: Ashby racks up 444 yards on offense in win
Quarterback Blake Ohren led the way in the win over Bertha-Hewitt
The Ashby football team racked up 444 yards of total offense as the Arrows ran past Bertha-Hewitt 54-14 last Friday night.
Junior quarterback Blake Ohren had a lot of those yards for Ashby. He finished 13-of-23 passing for 162 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He added 195 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries on the ground.
Junior running back Gage Olson added a couple touchdowns himself. He finished with 88 yards and a score on 16 carries and caught five balls for 83 yards and a touchdown. Tanner Langlie also had a nice night with three catches for 52 yards and two scores.
“I was proud of the way our kids came out and played tonight,” head coach Andy Campbell said. “We had a solid week of preparation and the kids executed the game plan very well. We still have to do a better job of taking care of the football on offense moving forward into the playoffs, where little mistakes can become season-enders.”
Hunter Fick led the Ashby defense with 14 tackles, five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery. Olson and Zack Barry each added an interception and combined for 10 tackles, while Langlie had 13 tackles as well.
