Robert Albert Englin, 72, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born September 17, 1940 in Duluth. Robert’s parents were Albert and Genevieve (Paulson) Englin. He was baptized and confirmed at Sveadahl Lutheran Church in St. James.
Robert was united in marriage to Joan Dado on August 24, 1960. The couple was blessed with five children. The family lived in Waverly and Robert worked on the road as a maintenance worker for Sterner Industries in Winsted and worked for the St. Peter Creamery. The family moved to South Dakota for seven years to work at the Lake Norden Creamery. In 1990, they moved to Alexandria, where Robert continued working as a maintenance worker for Northern Food and Dairy, now Sun Opta.
Robert retired in 2005. After retirement, Robert became even busier, welding and fixing equipment for farmers, or anyone else that had a project. The more challenging it was, the more he enjoyed it.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He also loved being with his grandchildren, and he always seemed to have chocolate for them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Alexandria; daughters, Victoria Englin of Alexandria, Shirley Englin of Alexandria, Jennifer Englin of Willmar; son, Jeffrey (Brenda) Englin of Rushville, NY and son-in-law, Robert Meredith of Monticello; and 12 grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Genevieve; and daughter, Michelle (Englin) Meredith.
A memorial service was held Saturday, October 13 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria with the Rev. Dennis Angland officiating. Music was provided by Kristi Wussow.
Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
