West Central Area rallied back after falling behind Clinton-Graceville- Beardsley by two sets Monday night to win 3-2.
“The Knights got a big section win tonight,” said head coach Beth Hanson. “To put it simply, we had a bad case of the Mondays, yet we fought through and survived. It is nice to come out with a win, despite a rough match.”
The Wolverines won the first two matches 25-14, 25-22 before the Knights came back with three straight wins 25-13, 25-18, 15-10.
“The first two wins, CGB played very well,” said Hanson. “They were scrappy and moved their attack around. We did not respond well to their tips. In the next three, we found some confidence and composure. Things started to go our way and we varied our attack.”
Kelsey Hammer led the Knights as she had 13 kills and 27 digs.
Holly VanKempen finished with 10 kills and five blocks, while McKenzie Hunter was solid at the serving line.
“She [Hunter] ran off a perfect 29-for-29 serves with five aces,” said her coach.
Christina Kruize had eight kills, 22 set assists and 14 digs, while Kiersten Sabolik had 16 assists and nine digs, Tiana Christenson had four kills and 25 digs, Danielle Diedrich had three kills and two blocks, and Courtney Lock had five digs.
