Cross country: VanKempen leads Knights to fifth at conference meet
West Central Area’s Abby VanKempen finished fifth overall at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference cross country championships Tuesday, leading the Knights to a fifth place team finish.
VanKempen ran the course in 15:47.2, just 20.7 seconds behind champion Emily Bakken of Pelican Rapids.
Kylee Fernholz finished seventh for the Knights in 15:5.2.
The boys’ team finished fifth as well, being led by Alex Toms’ 19th place finish in 17:47.6.
