Volleyball: Brandon-Evansville girls struggle against Rothsay

It wasn’t a successful outing for the Brandon-Evansville volleyball team Tuesday night as they fell to Rothsay in four sets.

“The girls had a tough night in Rothsay,” said Charger head coach Kelly Olson. “Coming off a rough weekend in Bertha, we were hoping to show up with a little fight, but I think that fight stayed home instead.

“We did some things well tonight as our hitting percentages were up, but our serve receive and coverage were our demise in the end.

“With our libero out with an injury, we needed to have some girls step up their play and it just did not happen enough,” he added. “I know we were out of defensive position too many times to be successful. The girls did not adjust and it showed on the scoreboard.”

Megan Friedrich paced the Chargers with 12 kills and 19 digs.

Brandon-Evansville is now 7-15-3 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

The Chargers hosted Hillcrest last night, Thursday and will host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Monday. Tuesday they host Hancock in the regular season finale.
