Alexandria boys' soccer: Cardinals fall to Apollo

Alexandria opened playoff action yesterday as the No. 7 seed.

The Alexandria boys saw their regular season come to an end on the soccer field with a 5-1 loss to St. Cloud Apollo.

The Cardinals scored first in the contest as Devin Crowe found the net on an assist by Ryan DeReamer in the 17th minute of play.

From there it was all Eagle soccer as St. Cloud Apollo answered with a goal in the 23rd minute, then added four more in the second half in the 47th minute on a penalty kick, followed by goalies in the 60th, 64th and 75th minutes.

Alexandria had eight shots on goal in the game, while the Eagles had 17 with Cardinal goalkeeper Zach Lamb turning away 12 shots.

The Cardinals finished with a 4-7-2 regular season record.

SECTION 8A-SOUTH PLAYOFFS

Aleaxndria was the No. 7 seed in the Section 8A-South boys’ soccer playoffs.

The Cardinals traveled to St. Cloud Apollo yesterday, Thursday, to face the No. 2 seeded Eagles.

The second round of play will be tomorrow, Saturday, in Bemidji.
