Ben was born in Leven Township, Pope County, on February 18, 1918 to Wencil and Mary (Hiebel) Mrnak.
Ben married Grace Reichmann on October 8, 1940. He farmed in Leven Township until retiring in 1995. Ben married Lorraine Drahos on July 21, 1995. He and Lorraine moved to Alexandria in 1997.
Ben enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, road farming, traveling and visiting with friends and family.
Ben is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Dorothy (Harlan) Munsen of North Mankato, Roger (Diane) Mrnak of Glenwood and Gerald (Linda) Mrnak of Delano; nine grandchildren, Darlene, Nathan, Angela, Jason, Jennifer, Chris, Tony, Randy and Brandon; 21 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mike McKinley of Minneapolis; sister, Mary Pehan of Glenwood; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1973; daughter, Nancy McKinley in 2005; his parents; brother, Charles and sister, Helen Pronek.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, October 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Steve Binsfeld officiating. Music was provided by Laurie Youngers and Melissa Rademacher.
Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Ben’s grandsons serving as pallbearers.
