Norlin Arvid Lovig, 84, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012.
Norlin was born November 26, 1927 in Blue Earth, the son of Nels and Agnes (Vikingstad) Lovig. He was baptized in the Christian faith in May of 1928 and confirmed in May of 1941. Arvid attended Willmar High School and graduated in 1945. He served his country in the United States Merchant Marines and Army from June 1945 to August 1947.
Arvid was united in marriage to Lois Raveling on August 13, 1948 at the parsonage in Spicer. To this union three sons were born, Jeff, Kevin and James. Norlin was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation for more than 40 years.
Arvid was very involved with different organizations along with his church. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, volunteer fireman, Sunday school teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a member of the Lions Club and served as their district governor. He also volunteered after hurricanes Hugo and Andrew and helped with sandbagging during the floods in Fargo.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois; sons, Jeff (Jann) of Woodbury, Kevin (Julie) of Rockford, James (Cheryl) of Mantorville; grandchildren, Andrea (Matt) Petersen, Margoux (Brandon) May, Candice (Ben) Middendorf, Brian (Mackenzie) Lovig, Blair (Annette) Lovig, Tyler Lovig; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Allie, Olivia Petersen, Katelyn, Michael Middendorf; Carson May, Elijah Lovig; brothers, Marion (Patricia) of Modesto, CA, and Luther of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 8 at Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls,
