Tri-State Manufacturers’ Association will host a general meeting on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at West Central Initiative in Fergus Falls. Members are invited, as well as prospective members interested in networking with their peers in manufacturing.
The schedule of events will begin at 7:30 a.m., breakfast will be served. After breakfast, meeting participants will enjoy a presentation by Chris Schuelke, Otter Tail County Historical Society, entitled, “A History of Fergus Falls State Hospital.” Construction on the hospital began in 1888. Its design was based on the design concepts of Dr. Thomas Kirkbride, which called for a central administration section flanked by patient wards. From its opening in 1890 until closing in 2007, Fergus Falls State Hospital was home to thousands of patients and workers alike. As the city of Fergus Falls struggles to find an answer regarding what to do with the facility, it is imperative that its history and influence in west central Minnesota are kept alive, according to Schuelke.
Tri-State Manufacturers’ Association (TSMA) is a membership-based organization serving manufacturers and related industries in west central Minnesota and eastern North and South Dakota.
