Alexandria Area Arts Association offers classes

The Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) is offering classes in acting and stage make-up. Classes include:

The Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) is offering classes in acting and stage make-up. Classes include:

Drama 3. Explores the mental focus of an actor, including preparation and connecting on stage. Classes are October 18, 25 and November 1 and 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The class is taught by David Christman and is restricted to ages 10 or older. Drama 3 requires the completion of Drama 1 and 2.

Make-up for the stage. A four-class course that can be taken either as a course or as individual classes. Class participants will receive a personal Ben-Nye stage make-up kit. The classes include:

• General stage make-up. Covers stage makeup, including highlights, lowlights and blending. It will be held October 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and taught by Deb Long and Daniel Walstad.

• Character and old age make-up. Explore special character make-up. The class will be October 11 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and will be taught by AAAA guest artist Daniel Walstad.

• Blood, wounds, scars and burns (spooky effect make-up). Explores the darker side of make-up. This class, taught by Ben Klipfel, Quincy Roers and Tom E Lee, will also cover latex application and blood effects. The class is October 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is restricted to ages 12 or older.

• Fantasy make-up. Covers animals, spirits, ghosts and other fantasy applications. The class is November 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and will be taught by Quincy Roers.
