Lakes Area Professional Women celebrate business women

In celebration of National Business Women’s Week, the Lakes Area Professional Women (LAPW) will hold its annual recognition dinner on Wednesday, October 17 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria.

In celebration of National Business Women’s Week, the Lakes Area Professional Women (LAPW) will hold its annual recognition dinner on Wednesday, October 17 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria.

For 67 years, professional women in the Alexandria area have been spotlighting the achievements and contributions of working women.

The recognition dinner is an opportunity to invite members and non-members, men and women, to an event celebrating the accomplishments of all businesswomen. The 2012 Professional Woman of the Year will be announced.

Two additional awards will be presented at the event to recognize business achievements in the lakes area. Glenwood State Bank, with a staff of more than 25 employees, will receive the 2012 Large Business Award. Cherry Street Books, with fewer than 25 employees, will receive the 2012 Small Business Award.

The LAPW, formerly Alexandria Area Business and Professional Women, was founded November 9, 1944 with 27 charter members and now has a current membership total of 90 local women.
