Letter - Political ads may stretch the truth a little

It’s that time of year again, when we will be inundated with political ads from every conceivable source. As expected, each party will expound on their candidates’ promises to fix all our country’s problems while finding fault with their opponents’ promises.

To the editor:

It’s that time of year again, when we will be inundated with political ads from every conceivable source. As expected, each party will expound on their candidates’ promises to fix all our country’s problems while finding fault with their opponents’ promises.

Even though I am a strong supporter of one party, I will be muting all political ads as I know they are, to say the least, stretching the truth a little, and are sometimes downright nasty. Instead, I will research the candidates, their past and present stances; investigate the marriage amendment and see what exactly the voter ID issue is about.

In other words, I hope to make educated choices for this election and not be swayed by the rhetoric of the ads. I may or may not vote strictly along party lines. That’s the great thing about our democracy.

I hope you will make informed decisions when you vote. The most important thing, of course, is that you vote. Please do so. It is one of our responsibilities for living in this great country.
