Alexandria boys' soccer: Cards fall to Tech

The Cardinal boys’ soccer team scored on two of three shot opportunities, but couldn’t hold down a strong St. Cloud Tech team in a 4-2 loss on Tuesday night.

Chandler Davis scored in the ninth minute for Alexandria to give his team a 1-0 lead early. The Tigers responded with goals in the 35th and 40th minutes to end the first half with a one-goal advantage.

The Cardinals responded with a goal just 40 seconds into the second half. Tech once again responded, scoring in the 46th minute and the 74th minute.

The Tigers outshot Alexandria 11-3 on the night. Zach Lamb turned aside seven of those shots for the Cardinals in the losing effort. It was the 10th win of the season for the Tigers and dropped Alexandria to 4-5-2 in league play and 5-7-2 overall.

“The boys played very well against a very good Tech team,” head coach Cahil Collins said. “We controlled a good part of the game and played some good soccer.”
