Alexandria volleyball: Cardinals fall to Rocori in CLC

What started out as a potential win in a sweep for the Cardinal volleyball team Tuesday night turned into a five-set loss to the Rocori Spartans as Alexandria dropped just its second conference match of the year.

The Cards cruised to wins in sets one and two by scores of 25-11 and 27-17, but set three saw a turnaround in momentum as the Spartans battled their way to wins of 25-17 and 25-18, setting up a deciding set five.

Alexandria couldn’t turn the momentum back to its side and fell 15-11 in the final set of the night, dropping to 7-2 in CLC play.

Amanda Christianson was one of the bright spots for the Cardinals on the night as she hammered down 17 kills. She added two digs and one set assist.

Allie Noetzelman and Nicole Canavati had 18 and 17 set assists, respectively, with Shaneé Herd making 24 digs.

The Cardinals hosted CLC leader Fergus Falls last night, Thursday, in the annual Block Out Cancer fundraiser between the two teams, and on Tuesday will be at Sartell.
