Morris to host Hugo and Nebula award-winner Lois McMaster Bujold

The University of Minnesota, Morris will welcome award-winning science fiction and fantasy author Lois McMaster Bujold on Tuesday, October 9, at 7 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109. The author will be reading from her latest book and taking questions from the audience; a reception is scheduled to follow. All are welcome to attend this literary event.

Bujold is a New York Times best-selling science fiction and fantasy author. She is a four-time winner of the Hugo Award for best science fiction or fantasy novel; Bujold has also won two Nebula awards as well as the Mythopoetic and Skylark literary awards for her achievement in the field of science fiction and fantasy.

Bujold is best known for her series of novels centering on Miles Naismith Vorkosigan, the genius and physically disabled son of a powerful family, who becomes a mercenary, spy, and imperial official on his native planet of Barrayar. The most recent Vorkosigan book, Captain Vorpatril's Alliance, will be released this November. Bujold's fantasy work includes the Chalion series, inspired by the medieval Europe, and the Sharing Knife series, which is set in a world similar to the frontier-period American Midwest.

Bujold was born in Ohio and attended Ohio State University. She currently lives in Minneapolis.
