Workshop addresses special education process for children with disabilities

PACER Center is offering “IDEA: Understanding the Special Education Process,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals.

PACER Center is offering “IDEA: Understanding the Special Education Process,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals. It is on Monday, October 8, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Otter Tail Power Company, 215 Cascade St., Fergus Falls, Minn. Advance registration is requested.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) affects special education for children with disabilities. This workshop covers information on topics such as:

Understanding special education

Understanding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Evaluating and re-evaluating students

Keeping special education records

Becoming an effective advocate for your child and an effective IEP team member

Resolving differences
