Local voters will have the opportunity to hear and ask questions of candidates for Douglas County commissioner, Alexandria mayor and Wards 3 and 5 council members, as well as candidates for the open seat on the School District 206 Board of Education.

The forum for county commissioners (all five districts) will be held at Alexandria City Hall on Tuesday, October 23 at 7 p.m.

City council and school board forums will be back-to-back at the same location on Tuesday, October 30, starting at 7 p.m.

The forum will feature opening statements from each candidate, with the remainder of the forum time dedicated to questions from attendees.

These events are sponsored jointly by the Alexandria Area League of Women Voters and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women.

Both organizations are nonpartisan and share the goals of meaningful voter education during this election period.

Space will be limited to the capacity of the council chambers, and the forums will be taped for future replay on public access television.
