Tennis: Darkness causes tennis tie between Minnewaska and Montevideo

The Minnewaska tennis team finished in an unusual 3-3 tie in a match against Montevideo last week after the fourth singles match was called due to darkness.

Myranda Thoen and Natasha Smith were midway through the second set when they were forced to retire. Thoen had won the first set 6-4 and was trailing 2-3 in the second.

Minnewaska got two wins in the singles lineup and another at first doubles from Rachel Riley and MaKenna Hanson. The Lakers duo won 6-2, 6-4, while Ellen Stensrud won 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 and Hannah Freske won 6-1, 6-2 at first and second singles, respectively.

The tie left the Lakers at 10-4-1 on the season.
