The Ashby volleyball team couldn’t keep up with a strong Parkers Prairie attack led by Madison Dorn as the Arrows dropped a 3-0 match against the Panthers last Thursday.
Parkers Prairie started off strong with a 25-17 win in the first before taking the second 25-22. The Panthers used another 25-17 win to put things away in the third.
“We got off on the wrong foot in the first set,” Ashby head coach Brenda Johnson said. “We gave Parkers Prairie too many points on unforced errors and with a young team, it’s a hard time getting their confidence back…It is frustrating to lose when you know with a couple points here and there, you could’ve taken the point and maybe the momentum would’ve swung your way.”
Baily Funkhouser led Ashby with seven kills. Paige Nelson added six and Amber Sundal led the team in serving with 11 points on 14-of-15 serving and three aces. Cassandra Jordan also went 11-of-11 from the line with six points.
The loss dropped the Arrows to 3-7 overall and to 1-3 in the Little Eight Conference. The Panthers moved to 3-1 in league play and 7-3 overall.
