Letter - County Public Works building a wonderful improvement
Isn’t it a need for the county to build for the future? Bev Bales’ opponent seems to be dredging up the past. Shouldn’t he be thinking about the future?

He is particularly upset about the Public Works building. We wonder if he has been in there. We have, and we think it is a great facility for present and more importantly for long-term future needs. It was county land. It was built $2 million below estimates, as bids for construction work at that time were all very low.
This building allows all departments to have needed space for future growth. Next time you go to a meeting there, look around and decide if you think it was a bad idea. It became a compromise site to save millions.
The Public Works building has been used by numerous groups for meetings, accommodating many more people than the previous location – a valuable asset.
Maybe Commissioner Bales was right: It was not a want, but a need.
