Card girls' swimming and diving: Alexandria sails past Rocori

Behind seven wins, the Cardinal girls’ swimming and diving team sailed past Rocori 104-81 for their third straight victory of the season, improving their Central Lakes Conference mark to 2-1.

“Alexandria won just seven of 12 events against the Spartans, but in four races, the Cards placed first and second,” said head coach Mark Storhaug. “Alex scored in double figures, totaling 68 points to Rocori’s 24.

“All were key to the large margin by the end of the contest.”

Alexandria opened with a one, three finish in the 200 medley relay and never fell behind.

Madalyn Winger had a pair of wins, taking the 200 IM in 2:29.58 and the 500 free in 5:53.96.

Beth Burnham claimed the 50 free with a 27.71 and Kalli Bowser swam to first in the 100 back with a 1:06.93. Hannah Eklund added a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.91.

Two of the three relays were also won by the Cardinals, who saw Bowser, Eklund, Winger and Burnham win the 200 medley, and Rachel Peterson, Megan Bristow, Jaylen Olson-Rodel and Burnham win the 200 free relay.

Alexandria had five season bests as Bristow, Bowser, Ally Tim, Kate LeBrasseur and Jenna Kremer all made improvements. Kremer led the improvements as she raised her diving total by seven points.

Alexandria will host Fergus Falls next Thursday.
