Hole-in-one

Justin Fielder of Parkers Prairie carded a hole-in-one at Pine Ridge Golf Course on September 8. Fielder aced the 168-yard sixth hole while golfing with Dustin Nordlund. 

Williams Star

of the Week

Alexandria native Thomas Williams, a forward for the Brookings Blizzard hockey team, was named the Central Division Star of the Week in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

Williams registered seven points – three goals, four assists – in leading the Blizzard to a 3-1 record at the NAHL Showcase and a top spot in the Central Division.

Hole-in-one

Alice Leonard of Alexandria recorded a hole-in-one at the Atikwa Golf Course on September 14.

Leonard aced the 78-yard, par 3 No. 8 using a pitching wedge.

She was golfing with Phil Leonard, Bob Switzer and Doris Switzer.

FCA Fields of Faith

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold Fields of Faith on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at Jefferson High School’s Citizens Field.

This is a peer-to-peer movement with students from across the nation gathering on athletic fields to share personal stories and challenge each other to apply their faith to their lives.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Jefferson High School gymnasium.

Holy Moly Ole races

The last of the Holy Moly Ole Five run series races will be a one-mile sprint/walk Saturday, September 22.

Cost is $10 for walkers and children, $12 for families and $15 for runners.

Register by Monday, September 17 to be guaranteed a race shirt.

All proceeds go directly toward youth programs and scholarships at Lakes Area Recreation.

Vikingland Curling

The Vikingland Curling Club will be holding several events.

On Wednesdays, October 10 and 17, there will be a community education open house from 7-9 p.m., and on October 24, league play will begin.

United Cerebral

Palsy run

The first United Cerebral Palsy “Run for a Reason” 5K and 1K will be Saturday, October 13 at Westwood Church in St. Cloud.

Asics long-sleeved T-shirts will be given to the first 200 registrants.

Alexandria Grid Club

Those interested in joining the Alexandria Grid Club, which supports the Cardinal football team, have three levels of support to choose from - level 1 at $75, level 2 at $125 and level 3 at $225.

Proceeds from this year’s membership drive will go to replace helmets and shoulder pads for the varsity, and new pants and pads for the junior high program.
